One Mr. Mohammed Gafar Shola has accused nurses at the Center Igboro Children Specialist Hospital of arrant dereliction of duty and disregard for human life.
The distraught parent who contacted theinformant247 out of frustration narrated he rushed his ailing son, Abdul-basit to the hospital on Wednesday by 5:45am for urgent medical attention, but to his consternation, he was told to wait till 7am when the hospital will officially open before treatment can be administered on his son, adding that all pleas by him and other waiting patients hit bricks wall.
“This morning I took my son Abdulbasit to the children Hospital At Center Igboro, because since late midnight he has been having high temperature and his breathing isn’t that stable, but due to security concerns and there is no vehicle to use in rushing down to the clinic at that odd hour I decided to stay put till 5am this morning. So, by 5:30am I left home with him, his mother and my junior brothers (Ridwan and Ibrahim).
On getting there, I was told that his folder is filled up that I needed to get another which I never bothered about, but before paying I was Asked to take the boy to the Emergency section so as to know if he is going to be admitted.
On getting to the Emergency section of the clinic I was told that it was too early to admit a sick patient by 5:45am in the morning that I needed to wait with my Patient till 7am in the morning.
There is no pleading we didn’t make to the nurses and doctor on duty but it’s all went to there deaf hears.
So my point here is, is this how we are going to continue in this country, how are we sure that most lives haven’t been lost by this incident of negligence of duty.”
