Ozil retires from professional football at 34
The former German footballer, Mesut Ozil has retired from professional football.
The football expert took the decision because of his recent injuries.
Ozil spent the past 3 years in the Turkish Super Lig.
The 34-year-old announced his retirement after his 4 appearances for Basaksehir.
He made over 500 football appearances throughout his 17 years of professional football career.
Ozil took to Twitter on Wednesday March 22, to announce his retirement from professional football, as a player.
“After thoughtful consideration, I’m announcing my immediate retirement from professional football.”
He also said: “It has been an amazing journey filled with unforgettable moments and emotions.
“I want to thank my clubs – Schalke, Werder Bremen, Real Madrid, Arsenal FC, Fenerbahçe, Basaksehir and the coaches who supported me, plus teammates who have become friends.”
