It was not a good start for the Nigeria flying Eagles on Sunday as they lost their U-20 AFCON opener to Senegal.

While the Ladan Bosso’s led side appeared to be the better side throughout the encounter, a first half goal from Souleymane Faye of CF Talavera of Spain was all the Senegalese needed to ultimately decide the game.

The back and forth from the Nigeria team got its worst knock when Abdullahi Musa was shown a red card for infringements in the dying minutes of the game.

By extension, the result cast a big doubt on the flying Eagles who had a nearly perfect preparation ahead of the competition by winning all their 19 friendlies.

Coach Ladan Bosso and his boys will now be seeking redemption when they face host Country Egypt in their next game.

Earlier in the tournament opening game, Mozambique and Egypt played out a barren draw- a result which now literally keeps everything up for grab in group A
