Oyabambi commiserates with Adebayo family, describes late elder statesman as national Icon
Businessman and political figure, Otunba Adetunji Oyabambi, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo, describing the former governor as a trailblazer whose contributions to Kwara and Nigeria will never be forgotten.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Oyabambi expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the elder statesman, noting that his legacy of integrity, public service, and dedication to justice has left an indelible mark on the country’s political history.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo, a distinguished elder statesman, patriot, and trailblazer in Nigeria’s political landscape,” he said.
He praised Adebayo’s impactful leadership as a former Governor of Kwara State, stating that his commitment to good governance, democratic values, and public interest will continue to serve as a reference point for generations to come.
“Olatunji Adebayo’s legacy is one of courage, honesty, and dedication to the people. His service to the nation—both at the state and federal levels—will remain a shining example for all who believe in purposeful leadership,” Oyabambi added.
He also commiserated with the Adebayo family, and the people of Kwara State, praying for strength and comfort during this period of mourning.
“On behalf of myself and my family, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Adebayo family and the entire Kwara State. May the Almighty grant them the fortitude to bear this loss and may Baba’s soul rest in perfect peace,” he said.
He added that C.O. Adebayo was a respected statesman known for his principled stand during Nigeria’s military era and his lifelong commitment to democracy and social justice.
