Osun Poly ASUP calls off strike action
The Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, the Academic Staff Union (ASUP) of the Institution has called off its strike action.
The Informant247 had earlier reported that the Osun State Polytechnic chapter of ASUP had commenced strike which started on Monday, March 14, 2022.
Following the several dialogue, the Governing Council of the Polytechnic intervened to end the strike.
In a statement released to newsmen on Friday, the Institution’s Registrar, Busari Salawu made this disclosure.
According to the statement, the Governing Council Chairman, Dr Abiodun Saka- Layonu expressed displeasure over the strike action, adding that the academic staff of the school downed tools without any prior discussion with the Council.
The Governing Council Chairman urged members of ASUP and other labour unions in the institution to always embrace dialogue and consultation before embarking on such actions subsequently.
He also assured the staff that the welfare and progress of workers would be given priority by the Council.
He said, “This Council would not deprive workers of their rights as they discharge their duties in line with the policy thrust of the state government.
“I urge you to eschew conflicts and embrace peaceful discussion with the Governing Council and Management of the institution.”
