Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State Governor, while receiving in his office, the General Officer Commanding, 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Valentine Okoro, who led members of his team among whom were the Commanders of Engineering Construction Command Ede, on a working visit, called for the establishment of a regional task force to track and curb cross-border criminality in the South West and other areas under the Command of 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan.
The governor also called for a symbiotic working relationship between his administration and the GOC, while assuring the military team that Osun would remain a home of hospitality where there would be no discrimination.
He commended the commander of the Engineering Construction Regiment, Ede Army Barrack, Brig. Gen. K F Sulaimon for a wonderful job in securing the state.
Adeleke, in a statement on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said “The visit is very significant and a great opportunity to strengthen the security strategy on the sustenance of the current peace and stability not just in Osun but in the region.
“There is a need for the establishment of a regional task force to track and curb cross-border criminality in the South West and other areas under your Command.”
In his earlier remarks, Major General Okoro, while commending the governor for his huge investment in securing the lives and property of the people, added that the state was lucky with the presence of the Engineering Construction Command, Ede, which is full of all sorts of Army Engineers, specialists and combatants that have been contributing to the security architecture of the state.
