Vice President Yemi Osinbajo leaves Abuja on Monday for Monrovia, where he will represent President Muhammadu Buhari at the start of the year-long commemoration of Liberia’s bicentennial year.
Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity in the Vice-Office, President’s made the announcement on Monday in Abuja.
He claimed that Osinbajo will attend the event, which would be held at the Samuel Doe Stadium in Monrovia, along with other leaders from Africa and beyond.
As part of Liberia’s national celebrations, the vice president will attend further activities in Monrovia.
Liberia was created in 1822, when emancipated African slaves from the United States of America began migrating to West Africa.
On July 26, 1847, the country declared its independence and became the republic of Liberia.
On Osinbajo’s entourage are Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Zubairu Dada, and Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Amb. Adeyemi Dipeolu.
They are scheduled to return to Nigeria on February 15.
