Only 1.45% Ilorin Residents have access to main water —DAR

A survey which was done by DAR —a leading multidisciplinary international organisation in engineering, architecture and planning for data collection for the 2042 Ilorin New City Master Plan revealed that only 1.42% of people living in Ilorin have access to main water.

This was said by Owolabi Adekunle(an official of Dar) in his discussion on ‘Ilorin Today—Water and Utilities’ at the Ilorin City Master Plan Town Hall Meeting on Thursday 9th September 2021 at the Banquet Hall, opposite government house, GRA Ilorin, Kwara.

A water main is a primary underground pipe in a municipal water distribution system. It is a major artery that supplies water to smaller pipes on the way to homes and businesses.

Water mains take clean water from a city’s water treatment plant to communities that need it and is, therefore, a critical part of a nation’s utility infrastructure. The pipes transport a high volume of water under pressure to neighborhoods that are depending on water mains to bring them clean water from the city’s water treatment facility.
