Ondo accesses N1.430bn UBEC fund to revamp public schools

The Ondo State Government says it has paid its counterpart fund of N715million to receive N1.430bn Universal Basic Education Commission’s intervention fund.

The state Universal Basic Education Board’s Permanent Secretary, Mr Dele Akinagbe, who disclosed this in Akure, the state capital, on Friday, said the board would spend the N1.430bn on the renovation and construction of classrooms as well as provision of education materials for public primary schools in the state.

He listed other projects that will be funded with the N1.430bn to include construction of classrooms, construction of wooden classrooms in riverine areas, renovation of classrooms and supply of furniture for teachers and pupils among others.

He said, “The Ondo SUBEB has been able to impact on pupils through the provision necessary education materials to make schools conducive for learning.

“The state has paid its counterpart fund of N715million to receive N1.430billion Universal Basic Education Commission intervention fund.”
