A club statement on Wednesday has indicated the interest of Manchester United owner, Glazer family are are exploring “strategic alternatives” that could lead to a potential sale of Manchester United.
The owners Avram Glazer and Joel Glazer took over the Red Devils in 2005, after which the club went on to win five Premier League titles.
However, things have nosedived for the club having failed to win a major trophy since 2017- a trend which has occasioned a lot of criticism on the way the club is being run.
“As we seek to continue building on the club’s history of success, the board has authorised a thorough evaluation of strategic alternatives.
“We will evaluate all options to ensure that we best serve our fans and that Manchester United maximizes the significant growth opportunities available to the club today and in the future.
“Throughout this process we will remain fully focused on serving the best interests of our fans, shareholders, and various stakeholders.”
The statement added: “The process is designed to enhance the club’s future growth, with the ultimate goal of positioning the club to capitalise on opportunities both on the pitch and commercially.
“As part of this process, the board will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the company.”
According to reports, the Raine Group, who managed the sale of Chelsea for Roman Abramovich, will act as the exclusive financial adviser in the process.
Recall that Liverpool owners, the Fenway Sports Group says they are open to offers raising the prospect of the club being sold early in November.
