NYSC swears in 1603 corps members for batch C orientation course in Kwara

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said that a total number of 1603 Corps members comprising 860 females and 743 males were on Friday, sworn in at the Yikpata camp.

The Kwara State Coordinator for the NYSC, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua made this known during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2024 Batch C stream 1 where the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Adebara, who was represented by Justice Tauhid Salihu Umar administered the “NYSC Oath of Allegiance” to the corps members.

The ceremony was witnessed by the representative of the Commissioner of Police, CSP Samson Aliyu, and representative of the Commandant Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) SC Babalola Sunday Stephen,  among others.

The state coordinator commended the state governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his support to the NYSC in Kwara while also appreciating the corps members for their eagerness to go through the mandatory youth service year, stating that various activities had been lined up for their entertainment and education, while also admonishing them to strictly comply with all the rules required.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Youths Development Amb. Sheu Ndanusa Usman, represented by the Governor, charged the newly sworn-in members of the National Youths Service Corps(NYSC) to be disciplined and embark on various camp activities that will increase their developmental skills.

Ndanusa, while welcoming the corps members to the State of Harmony, urged them to participate in camp activities such as physical training, paramilitary drills, and citizenship and leadership training, among others.

He also advised them to present themselves as worthy ambassadors of their families by exhibiting sterling qualities such as service to humanity and humility as enshrined in the NYSC motto.

He said, “I can assure you that the government will continue to create an environment that promotes the well-being and security of Corps members who are deployed to Kwara State for their national service.”

The Chairman Kwara State NYSC Governing Board, and the Commissioner for Youth Development Amb. Shehu Usman Ndanusa,  represented by the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, Dr. Mrs. Adenike Funmilola Ajide, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his unwavering support to the NYSC scheme in Kwara State while admonishing the corps members to offer selfless service throughout the year and contribute significantly to the development of their host communities.
