In Kwara State, the NYSC Batch ‘C’ Stream I Corps members have officially commenced their service, igniting high expectations for their contributions to the state’s growth and development.
The swearing-in ceremony, graced by various dignitaries, marked the beginning of a new chapter for these young Nigerians as they embark on their year-long national service.
The event took place at the NYSC orientation camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government, where a total of 2,200 Corps members, including 1,150 females and 1,050 males, were administered the Oath of Allegiance by Justice Sulaiman Mobolaji Akanbi, representing the Kwara State Chief Judge.
Representing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, the supervising Commissioner for Youth Development, delivered an inspiring message to the newly inducted Corps members.
He emphasized the importance of patriotism, discipline, good conduct, honesty, and hard work in their roles as leaders of the nation.
Lade urged them to exemplify the NYSC motto, ‘Service and Humility,’ as they embark on their service year.
The Governor’s representative assured the Corps members of the state government’s commitment to their welfare and the overall development of Kwara State. Adding that this commitment aims to provide a peaceful and habitable environment for all residents.
Alhaji Abdulrasak Babatunde Alabere, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, lauded Governor AbdulRazaq’s dedication to improving the well-being of youth Corps members in the state.
He encouraged the Corps members to be outstanding ambassadors at their respective duty posts and highlighted the government’s readiness to reward hard work and contributions.
The state Coordinator for NYSC, Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, commended the Governor for procuring 500 new mattresses, ensuring the comfort of Corps members during their orientation.
He urged the Corps members to adhere to the rules and guidelines in place. Corps members were reminded to maintain discipline and orderly behavior throughout their service year.
The coordinator assured them that the activities lined up would be both entertaining and educational, fostering an enriching experience during their stay.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by various representatives, including the Comptroller of Immigration, Chief Superintendent Olumuyiwa Kabiru Aliyu, a representative of the Director of State Services, Mr. Haruna Sunmonu, and the representative of the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) State Commander, Assistant Commander of Narcotics Ango Mohammed Tukur, among others.
