It’s going to be a renewed rivalry later on Friday when the University of Ilorin squares up against Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) of Ile-Ife in the final at the final of the Nigeria University of Games Association (NUGA) games, reports.
Earlier on Thursday in the Semi-final, Unilorin defeated Nasarawa State University 2-1 to book a place in the final while OAU pipped the hosts, University of Lagos 4-3 on penalties to reach the final after a 1-1 full time draw.
Unilorin and OAU are familiar foes, especially because of their engagement in the Higher Institution football league ( HiFL). It’s a shared result on two occasions when the teams met in the third-place final of the league; While OAU won the first meeting, Unilorin also won the second meeting to clinch bronze medals.
The final game is billed for University of Lagos football field at 4pm on Friday. Also, the female football event will also have the hosts, UNILAG facing University of Calabar in the same pitch at 2pm.
