No fewer than 27 persons have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, over alleged cult-related activities in Lafia, the state capital.
According to Mr Bappa Abbas Muhammed, the commandant of the corps in Nasarawa, who stated this on Monday while parading the suspected cult members, said one person was killed as a result of the cult activities while one other sustained a matchet injury and was receiving treatment.
Muhammed, who expressed worry over the increasing rate of cultism across the 13 local government areas of the state, particularly in Lafia, the state capital, said that the command had launched a new security strategy to tackle the ugly menace, adding that those arrested would soon be charged to court for prosecution.
