Nottingham forest denies Chelsea new year day joy at city ground
Chelsea’s troubles on the road continued on the new year day as they were forced to a 1-1 draw at the city ground of Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
After falling behind to Raheem Sterling’s opener in the 16th minutes, the Steve cooper’s boys put in a fine second-half display which was rewarded with Serge Aurier’s equaliser in the 63rd minutes.
An end to end stuff between the two teams, the game could be adjudged as a shared show giving the homeside’s strong willed efforts as they continue to push for a survival from relegation zone.
While Chelsea did at least stop a fourth away defeat in a row, they will however require a huge improvement if they are to close the seven-point gap on the top four.
Having seen off Liverpool in October and Spurs in the Carabao Cup in the same ground,
the boys from London were put to a long test of resolve dealing with the pace of the home boys.
Chelsea will once again be out another round of test when they host Manchester City on January 5 at the Bridge
