None of our officer kidnapped, murdered – Kwara Police deny viral report
The Kwara State Police Command has denied the report of kidnap and murder of female police officer serving in the state.
A viral report on social media claimed that a female police officer serving at Ogidi division in Ilorin was kidnapped and murdered not far from her place of assignment.
However, reacting to the report, the Kwara State Police Command, in a statement on Saturday, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, and made available to newsmen in Ilorin, said that Command described the report as false, misleading, and intended to cause unnecessary panic among residents.
The statement also emphasized that there is no record of any female officer missing or abducted in any division within the state, adding that there is no police station known as Ogidi Division in Kwara State as claimed in the viral posts.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi, while stating that the Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, is working closely with other security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property across the state, called on residents to disregard the misleading report and always verify information before sharing, noting that unverified social media posts could undermine public confidence and disrupt peace.
The PPRO reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to transparency and effective communication with the public, urging residents to follow official police channels on X, Facebook, and WhatsApp for accurate updates.
