No movement restriction as Kwara holds sanitation Sept 26

The Kwara State Government has fixed Saturday, September 26, for the monthly environmental sanitation exercise across the state.

The exercise will take place between 7am and 10am, with vehicular and human movement permitted throughout the period.

The Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, announced this in a statement issued by her office, urging residents to participate in the exercise.

According to the statement, the sanitation exercise is intended to encourage residents, community groups, organisations and other stakeholders to clear debris and materials capable of obstructing the free flow of water through drainages and waterways.

The ministry said the exercise was also aimed at helping communities prevent avoidable flooding and disease outbreaks, particularly during heavy rainfall.

Residents were urged to pay attention to both their residential and business premises and maintain clean, safe and healthy environments.

Buge also said the ministry would provide waste disposal vehicles to groups and organisations that have expressed interest in collaborating with the government on sanitation activities in their communities.

The government urged residents and participating organisations to use the exercise to improve environmental cleanliness and reduce risks associated with blocked drainage and waterways.
