Nigeria’s registered voters rise to 103 million — INEC

The number of registered voters in Nigeria has risen to more than 103 million ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced.

The increase followed the completion of the three-phase Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which attracted 10,772,421 new registrants across the country.

INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, disclosed this on Monday while delivering a keynote address at a strategic workshop for media executives organised by the Nigerian Guild of Editors in collaboration with the commission.

Mr Amupitan, a professor and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, said the commission had completed eight of the 14 major statutory activities outlined in its timetable for the 2027 elections.

He said preparations for the elections had entered what he described as the “amber zone” as the countdown to the polls intensifies.

The commission is also scheduled to hold a world press conference on Tuesday as the countdown to the 2027 general elections reaches 100 days.
