Nigeria’s oldest international footballer, Titus Okere is dead
The Nigeria’s oldest former international footballer, Titus Okere is dead.
Okere, aged 94 was a member of Nigeria’s first national team, the famed UK Tourists of 1949.
According to sportsvillage square, Okere died in Kent,United Kingdom and his death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Frances Okere to Kunle Solaja, one of the Nigeria’s foremost sports journalist and football diarist .
Okere was believed to be the first Nigerian citizen to play football abroad and registered as a professional when he signed for Swindon Town.
He reportedly left Nigeria in February 1953 and never came back.
