Nigeria’s history wouldn’t have been completed without my election victory in 2023 – Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu emphasized the significance of his victory in the 2023 presidential election, stating that Nigeria’s history would have felt incomplete without it.
Speaking at the 8th Day Fidau prayers for the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Adetona, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Tinubu expressed gratitude for the late monarch’s support in his political journey.
He recounted how Oba Adetona had blessed him and foretold his electoral success, saying, “I was successful because of your support and the blessing of late Awujale.
He said ‘you will win that election and you will win one more time. Go ahead.’”
Tinubu also praised the late Oba for his wisdom and staunch support of democracy, particularly during the June 12 movement. He took a moment to thank Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for his assistance during the mourning period.
Governor Abiodun urged the people of Ijebuland to remain united and uphold the values of peace and harmony that the late Awujale championed. In a poignant sermon, Chief Imam of Gbagura, Prof. Kamaldeen Bello, reminded attendees of the inevitability of death and the importance of living life fully.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including governors from Kwara, Ondo, and Ekiti States, as well as notable deputy governors and ministers.
