Nigeria’s first Olympic gold medalist, Chioma Ajunwa promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police rank

Nigeria’s first Olympic Gold medalist, Chioma Ajunwa, MON has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP by the Police Service Commission, PSC in the Nigerian Police Force.

Until her recent appointment, Chioma Ajunwa was an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP and with her recent promotion, she is on her way to being promoted to a Commissioner of Police soon.

Chioma Ajunwa is a Nigerian former track and field athlete, footballer and notable for becoming the first Nigerian to win gold at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, and the first black African woman to win an Olympic Gold Medal in a field event.

Last year, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, redeemed the Government’s pledge of a house to 1996 Olympic Gold medalist with three-bedroom flat.
