Nigerians are going through a difficult time; work hard to revive economy – Tinubu tells ministers

Tinubu during FEC meeting

Nigerian President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday urged his cabinet members to work hard to revive the country’s economy because Nigeria is in a difficult time.

Tinubu, while speaking during the inauguration of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Aso Rock villa, Abuja, stated that the ministers could make a difference in the ministries they have been assigned to oversee.

He said, “We have talents; we have the level of intellectuals and capacity to turn this country around.”

“You and I know expectations are high, and there is a tough time. Therefore, we must work hard, commit ourselves and create a buoyant economy that will serve every Nigerian.

“We must unlock the energy and natural resources of this country. We must start to produce for ourselves, dig ourselves out of the woods, focus on education and healthcare, and make social investments that are essential for the development of our people.

“Our priority areas are defined in our economic programmes. Every area is our priority, and you belong in the driver’s position to realise and make that priority a fulfilling promise to the entire nation and the continent of Africa.”

Tinubu said members of his cabinet must achieve the kind of economy Nigerians have envisioned.

“I am ready to listen. Like I said to the Nigerian Bar Association yesterday, I am ready even for corrections because only God is perfect,” he said.

The president said the ministers should not be afraid of making decisions as that is the “problem of leadership”.
