ASUU should be scrapped, says Gov El-Rufai’s son
Bashir El-Rufai, a son of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has said that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, should be scrapped.
Bashir, has called ASUU a “useless union,” and called for the replacement of the union with educators who care about the welfare of students.
ASUU extends industrial strike again
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has extended the ongoing industrial strike.
It was gathered that ASUU extended the industrial strike during its National Executive Council, NEC, meeting in Abuja.
A lecturer with the University of Calabar, UNICAL, said: “ASUU has extended the strike again. This government has refused to pay us, so we can’t go back to classes.

Parents, under the aegis of the National Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria, NAPTAN, have said they only expect reports that would put an end to the ongoing strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, as the National Executive Council, NEC, of the union meets to decide on the industrial action.
Ondo, Edo lead as Lassa fever cases now 894
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has revealed that 894 cases of Lassa fever infections have been confirmed since the beginning of the year, with 168 deaths.
The latest situation report released for week 33 by the NCDC showed that there are 6,392 suspected cases of the infection across 101 local government areas in 25 states.
