Police rescue 9 kidnap victims in Niger
The Police Command in Niger says security operatives have rescued the nine abducted residents of Kuchi village of Munya Local Government Area of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some gunmen abducted the victims on Thursday night.
Mr Bala Kuryas, the Commissioner of Police for the state, told NAN on Friday in Minna that a joint security task force, including members of the vigilante, rescued the victims unhurt.
ASUU strike: Kwara NLC mobilizes Unions in support of national solidarity rally
Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, is mobilising unions and organisations for the impending national rally in support of the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Nigeria Universities, ASUU.
This is in compliance with the directive from the national headquarters of the union on the rally.
Nine persons burnt to death in Ondo road accident
Nine persons were burnt to death on Friday in a road accident which happened at Omotosho along Ore-Lagos Expressway in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ore Unit, Mr Sikiru Alonge, who confirmed the accident said the crash happened early in the morning.
Osun: PDP warns Oyetola against plans to conduct of local government election
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State has warned the State governor, Adegboyega Oyetola against any plans to conduct local government elections.
The warning was also directed at the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC).
The PDP maintained that the exercise would be illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional.
Tinubu absent as Buhari meets with APC stakeholders
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was no where to be found as President Muhammadu Buhari hosted a delegation led by the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders at the State House, Abuja, on Friday.
Among the delegation were the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase, the APC Vice Presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, and other key actors of the party.
No going back on planned protest – NLC insists
All affiliate unions of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Ekiti State have agreed to participate in next week’s solidarity mass protest organized by the NLC.
The protest is in solidarity with university lecturers, to salvage the education sector in the country.
The various affiliate unions made their commitment known during a meeting held at the labour house in Ado Ekiti to deliberate on how to carry out the protest.
3,657 civil servants to be prosecuted by ICPC – Head of Service
A total of 3,657 civil servants are to face prosecution for failing to get verified on the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Folashade Yemi-Esan, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, on Thursday, made the explanation while featuring at the briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team.
Withdraw your presidential ambition now – PDP tells Tinubu over alleged hiring of fake Bishops
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to withdraw his presidential ambition, for allegedly hiring unknown persons to dress as bishops.
PDP said the alleged action is not pardonable.
The spokesperson of the party, Hon Debo Ologunagba made this revelation on this Friday at a press conference in Abuja, the country capital.
He claimed that the APC is collapsing ahead of the 2023 elections.

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has revealed that the former Governor of the state, Chibuike Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers governorship candidate, Tonye Cole, as those who have allegedly looted the state.
Wike made this revelation on Thursday after signing the contract for the construction of the eleventh and twelfth flyover bridges and the dualisation of Azikiwe Street-Iloabuchi Road in Port Harcourt between the state government and Julius Berger Nigeria PLC at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Court remands former AGF Idris, others over N09bn fraud
Justice Adeyemi Ajayi of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has ordered that former Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, and two others be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Kuje.
Justice Ajayi ordered that Idris and his co-defendants be kept in Kuje pending the hearing of their bail applications on July 27.
The remand order followed the arraignment of the former Accountant General on Friday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
