Nigeria secures $7.6bn investment pledge at AIF, says AfDB President Adesina

The president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, on Sunday, disclosed that Nigeria had attracted $7.6 billion in investment commitments at the 2024 Africa Investment Forum held in Rabat, Morocco, from December 4-6.

Adesina, while disclosing this via his X platform, expressed optimism about the forum’s positive impact on Nigeria’s economy.

“I am delighted the Africa Investment Forum 2024 mobilised $7.6bn in investment interest for Nigeria. It was great to have several state governors from Lagos, Kaduna, Katsina, Kwara, Plateau, and later Ogun present. We will continue supporting and boosting investments in Nigeria,” Adesina stated.

The forum generated $29.2 billion in total investment interests across sectors, including energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and technology for the African continent.

In December, Nigeria’s Finance Minister Wale Edun highlighted the country’s need for $20 billion in annual investments to achieve its $1 trillion economy target by 2030.
