Nigeria reports 53 additional COVID-19 infections:NCDC
On Monday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 53 new COVID-19 cases in ten states.
The NCDC said this on Tuesday morning through its verified website that the additional coronavirus diagnoses had brought the overall number of infections in the country to 253,780.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Monday’s total was an increase from the 36 instances registered on Sunday.
The NCDC said that the country’s death toll remained at 3,139 after no deaths were reported on Monday.
The agency also stated that the country has successfully treated and released 230,144 COVID-19 patients since the start of the pandemic, up from 230,045 on Sunday.
According to the NCDC, Gombe State had 25 cases, Rivers had 12, and Cross River had eight cases.
Kaduna and Niger reported four instances respectively, Kwara three cases, Bayelsa and Kano two cases each, and Ogun and Oyo one case each.
It also stated that no cases were reported in Ekiti, Ondo, Ogun, Ondo, Plateau, or Sokoto States on Monday, despite the fact that 4,177,940 tests had been done across the country.
