‘Nigeria is collapsing, don’t Fear anyone’ – Peter Obi calls for unity amid party crisis
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2023 elections, addressed party members during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, urging them to speak up and take action in light of Nigeria’s pressing issues. “Do not fear anybody. Those who were afraid yesterday didn’t do any better,” Obi asserted, highlighting the urgent need for citizens to confront the nation’s challenges.
He pointed out the troubling economic realities facing Nigerians, stating, “The numbers are clear; the indices are clear—people are getting poorer every day.” Obi called for a collective approach within the Labour Party, emphasizing that it should function as a family united in purpose. “It’s not about Peter Obi’s choice; it’s everyone’s choice. This family excludes no one.”
Looking forward to upcoming elections, Obi emphasized the importance of preparedness and the selection of capable candidates: “We want to go into the next election fully prepared, offering Nigerians the best and most competent candidates for the House of Representatives, the Senate, Governorships, and the Presidency.” Additionally, he stressed the need for commitment among party aspirants: “Anyone seeking to contest under our party must be a committed member, not just someone passing through. They must be competent.”
