Nigeria and Twitter need each other, Senate President breaks silence

The President of Nigeria Senate, Ahmed Lawan, has finally broken his silence over the suspension of the operation of microblogging and social network platform Twitter by the Federal Government.

Lawan stated that Nigeria needs the platform just as much as it needs Nigeria’.

He disclosed this at a briefing in Abuja to mark the second anniversary of the 9th Senate on Friday, June 11, 2021

He said, “I believe this engagement between Twitter and the government will yield fruitful results.

“I am an optimist. I believe all of us would have learnt our lessons.”

Nigeria’s suspension announcement came just days after the platform deleted a tweet from President Buhari’s official account after it was deemed to have violated its rules.
