New deal: Arsenal forward, Aubameyang demands 250K, 3 year contract
Arsenal and Gabon International, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang after a marathon contract deliberation with Arsenal’s top brass, has demanded an increment in wage – which will take his current weekly earning from £200,000 to £250,000 and a new 3 year contract.
Aubameyang, 31, is currently in the final 12 months of his Arsenal deal. The proposed deal will see him remain at the North London Club till 2024, aged 35.
With his current wage demand, If the two parties reach an agreement, the mixed race striker will be the second highest earner at the club after Mesut Özil, who is on £350,000 weekly wages.
The Gabon forward is currently in a sterling form as he recently became the first Arsenal’s striker to reach a 50-goal landmark in just 79 appearances in the English Premier League. Aubameyang two goals against Norwich city on Wednesday evening saw him surpass Thierry Henry’s record of 50 goals in 83 EPL appearances.
The former Borussia Dortmund goal poacher is currently on a tie with Leceister City’s Jamie Vardy on 19 goals in the EPL scorers’ chart. He clinched the EPL golden boot after he was tied alongside Liverpool’s duo – Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane in his first full season in the English top division.
With Alexander Lacazette struggling for form since start of current campaign, Aubameyang’s demand has put the Arsenal’s hierarchy in the hot seat as the club will be short of striking options .
