New chief imam of Ilorin to resume duties June 19 – Emir’s palace
The newly appointed Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani, will officially resume his duties on Friday, June 19, 2026.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Personal Assistant to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Abdulraheem Muritala.
According to the statement, Sheikh Dasuki will lead the Jumaa prayer on the day and deliver his first Khutbah as the Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate.
The appointment of Sheikh Dasuki followed his recent selection by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, as the new spiritual leader of the emirate.
The statement prayed for Allah’s guidance, wisdom, good health and long life for the new Chief Imam as he assumes the responsibility of leading the Muslim community in the emirate.
Sheikh Dasuki succeeds the late Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Solihu, who died on June 7, 2026, at the age of 98.
