National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has advised motorists plying Idimu-Isheri road in Lagos to exercise utmost caution around the corridor due to the high tension cable that fell on the road.

NEMA’s acting Zonal Coordinator, South West Zonal Office, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, gave the advice in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that five 330KV towers supplying power to Akangba-Ikeja West had, on Dec. 24, 2021, collapsed in Idimu-Isheri axis of the state.

“Drivers plying Idimu-Isheri road in Lagos have been urged to exercise utmost caution around the corridor due to the high tension/power line cable that fell on the road/Isheri roundabout axis.

“This has caused heavy traffic on the corridor,” Farinloye said.

He noted that though power supply to the area was presently out, NEMA had, however, contacted Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to ensure that the area remained isolated.

According to him, the situation will remain until proper repair works are done on the line to ensure safety of lives and property of residents of the area.

He also advised parents and school authorities to discourage their children and students from playing around the affected cable lines. (NAN)
