Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have made significant arrests at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, capturing two brothers, John Abugu (43) and Kenneth Abugu (31), for attempting to smuggle five kilograms of cocaine hidden within the walls of their suitcases.

The brothers claimed they were traveling to India for medical treatment, but their story unraveled during a thorough luggage search conducted by NDLEA officers, who discovered the concealed narcotics.

In a separate operation on the same day, the MMIA Strategic Command apprehended 20-year-old Ghanaian-British national Parker Darren Hazekia Osei. He was found with 36 parcels of Loud—a potent strain of cannabis—totaling 19.40 kilograms. Osei, a Computer Science student at East London University, was intercepted during passenger clearance after arriving on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Bangkok, Thailand. He stated that he picked up the consignment in Bangkok for delivery in Nigeria, where he lives with his parents.

Additionally, NDLEA operatives in Kogi State arrested 33-year-old Ngozi Ogili while she was allegedly transporting three kilograms of methamphetamine from Lagos to Abuja. She was intercepted in a commercial bus along the Okene-Lokoja highway on March 31. A follow-up operation at her intended delivery point in the Apo Mechanic area of Abuja resulted in the seizure of more drugs, including Loud and Colorado, both synthetic cannabis variants.
