NCDC records additional 58 Covid-19 infections
On Tuesday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 58 more lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in six states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The NCDC said on Wednesday morning, via its verified website, that the number of Coronavirus infections in the country had risen to 253,838 as of Tuesday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), no Coronavirus-related deaths were recorded on Tuesday for the third day in a row, according to the NCDC.
As of February 8, there have been 3,139 deaths in Nigeria as a result of the Coronavirus.
It added that Lagos State, the country’s epicentre of the virus, reported the majority of the cases, with 35 infections on Tuesday, including a 15 backlog cases reported on January 7
According to the NCDC, the FCT reported nine cases, including a backlog of six cases reported on February 7.
While Edo had five cases, Delta had four, Kano and Rivers each had two, and Kaduna had one.
According to the agency, seven states, including Ekiti, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Oyo, Plateau, and Sokoto, reported zero cases on Tuesday.
The NCDC also revealed that the overall number of recoveries increased from 230,145 the day before to 230,211 on Tuesday after several patients tested negative for illness.
It went on to say that the country’s active cases had dropped by eight from the previous day’s tally of 20,496 to 20,488.
