NANS demands immediate removal of education minister, Adamu over lingering ASUU strike

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for the immediate removal of the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu over his inability to put an end to the ongoing industrial strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The Informant247 observes that the university lecturers union, on February 14, embarked on industrial strike to press home its demands for a better welfare package, revamping of the nation’s education sector, among others, a situation that has forced many Nigerian students to be at home.

The President of NANS, Sunday Asefon, via a statement, on Wednesday, told the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, to remove Adamu over what they mentioned as gross incompetence.

The number one student in the country has alleged that the Adamu has no compassion and empathy for Nigerian students, stressing that the lecturers union had gone on industrial strike for at least 18 months since he assumed responsibility as education minister.

The statement reads, “This development calls to question his qualification to be appointed as minister of education in the first place. His total lack of compassion and empathy for the plight of Nigerian students speak volumes.

“Since he became minister ASUU has gone on strike for almost 18 months cumulatively and the entire educational structure of our tertiary education system is in total shamble under his watch”.
