Atiku reacts as thugs attack his supporters at campaign rally in Kaduna

Some suspected political thugs have launched an attack on supporters of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the campaign rally going on in Kaduna State.

The presidential candidate made this confirmation in a post on his verified social media handles, Monday.

This came following an attack on supporters of the party in Zamfara State, a few days ago, which led to the killing of at least one person, while several others sustained various degrees of injuries.

Atiku has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call all political supporters to order in a bid to prevent reoccurrence of such incident.

The former vice president wrote, “I have just received emergency reports of attacks on PDP supporters by thugs sponsored to scuttle the ongoing PDP campaign rally in Kaduna State. This is undemocratic and against the Peace Accord all parties signed up for just a few weeks ago.

“I urge President Muhammadu Buhari to call on all parties to call their supporters and members to order and to ensure that campaigns, just as with the elections themselves, are kept free, fair and safe”.

Report could not ascertain the casualties recorded during the attack at the time of producing this report.
