The National Association of Kwara State Students, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara Axis (NAKSS SKZ) doled out scholarships to students.
The association during its annual “Harmony Variety Week” event held in honor of the former Senator of FCT, Abuja Senator Khairat AbdulRazaq Gwadabe, gave out scholarships to Kwara State students schooling in different institutions across the country.
The grand event was organized on the 26th of August at the Energy Research Center Auditorium, Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto State.
Present at the event were operatives of EFCC, a representative of NDLEA, lecturer and many others.
While speaking at the event, the Chairman of the association and convener of the program, Comrade Moshood Ibrahim, said that regrettably many of the youth involve themselves in acts of immoralities which might endanger their future.
The coordinator stated that, “Many of our friends whom we hope that we shall in the nearest future lead this country to greatness are found engaging in activities that are capable of endangering their future or even their lives.”
“The reason why the program was organized is to contribute our quota as an Association. The association comprises of many students of Kwara origin schooling in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States and this is for them to trace the causes, effect and way forward to the cankerworm debilitating social serenity in our society.
“As the souls of the nation, youths are expected to be law abiding citizens, shun cultism, raping, any of the many cyber crimes…. For them to be productive and prolific to national development because it is only well equipped youths that can lead the country to the promised land we hope.”
During the Panel Discussion, Mr. Abubarka AbdulKareem, EFCC operative engaged the audience about the speculation of cryptocurrency and “yahoo yahoo”.
He reiterated that fraudsters have painted the country in a bad colour and limit its international opportunity to attract investors.
For his part, Mr. Abdulhamid Umar, a representative of Sokoto State Commander, NDLEA, emphasized that youths should shun drug abuse.
He urged attendees to be selective in choosing friends, adding that drug abuse is the mother of all vices because most crimes are committed under the influence of drug.
The association honored past executives with leadership awards of excellence.
Among those that received the award were; the pioneer of the association comrade Issa Lukman Oluwadare, the immediate past NAKSS National Headquarters president, Comrade Adisa Jaji Azeez as well as the National president of NAKLAS National Headquarters and Coordinator of the Association,Comrade Moshood Ibrahim.
