My gov’t has protected rights of Nigerian journalists — Buhari

The Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that his administration had in the last eight years protected the rights of Nigerian journalists.

The Nigerian leader made this known while speaking on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day.

He said: “We’ve kept the faith. We’ve ensured that Nigerian journalists have had unfettered freedom to practice their art, and on this occasion of World Press Freedom Day, we recommit to that resolution, even as we wind down in office.”

The president described the landmark as a tribute to journalists who put their lives at risk to maintain an educated and informed society.

The president urges Nigerian journalists to maintain patriotism, national cohesion, responsibility and freedom.
