Idrisu Abdullahi, a man suspected of motorcycle theft, has found himself facing legal action in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
His appearance in court comes in response to a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, theft, and affiliation with a gang of thieves, all of which contravene Sections 97, 287, and 306 of the Penal Code.
The police’s First Information Report (FIR) states that the defendant was apprehended in possession of an unmarked Bajaj motorcycle, caught in the act while seeking out a mechanic to mend the headlight following an accident.
In a twist of events, Abdullahi admitted to stealing the motorcycle during his journey back from Mokwa after previously claiming the bike was his brother’s, who had been apprehended earlier as a bandit.
The prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, appealed to the court for the defendant’s remand.
In response, Magistrate Gbadeyan Kamson granted the request, remanding Abdullahi in custody and scheduling the next hearing for August 22.
