Mohbad, Odumodublvck set for big win as Headies announces 17th edition of award nominations
Late Mohad, Odumodublvck, Qing Madi, and Ayra Starr, amongst other artists, were nominated for the 17th edition of The Headies.
The music award show organisers, while announcing the nominee list via a post on X on Wednesday, disclosed that only songs and music videos released between April 1, 2023, and July 31, 2024, were considered for nominations.
“Only music materials including shingles, videos, video live recordings, EPs & albums released & distributed on digital streaming platforms, & physical music media (cassettes, CDs & vinyl) within the year in review (April 1, 2023, & July 31, 2024) were considered for nomination,” it reads.
The 17th edition of The Headies, billed for April 5, focusing on the music of 2024, has Odumodublvck, the rapper, clinched five nominations, including two for the ‘Best Rap Single’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ categories.
Meanwhile, Ayra Starr, Qing Madi, and Shallipopi followed with three nominations.
However, the late Mohbad also got three nods in the ‘Afrobeats Single of the Year’, ‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘Best Street-hop Artiste’ categories.
