Mo Salah wins footballer of the year award
Liverpool Egyptian forward, Mohamed Salah, has won the footballer of the year by Football Writers’ Association in England.
Chelsea’s Australian striker Sam Kerr was voted in the women’s category of the award.
Salah had 48 percent of the vote for the award, leading Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and West Ham midfielder, Declan Rice.
The Egyptian star’s 30 goals this season have earned Liverpool outstanding outing and pushed the team to chance of winning some anticipating trophies.
It was gathered that the 29-year-old Egypt international is winning the award the second time.
Liverpool and Manchester City players dominated this category of award, as nine Liverpool players and six City players were nominated and recognized.
Kerr, 28, whose 18 goals have assisted Chelsea top the Women’s Super League table, claimed 40 per cent of the vote in the women’s category.
Arsenal’s Dutch international forward Vivianne Miedema came second while Lauren Hemp of Manchester City had the third position.
Salah and Kerr, are to get their awards at the Footballer of the Year dinner in London on May 5.
According to the FWA chair, Carrie Brown, said: “Both Mo and Sam have been outstanding this season, breaking records for both club and country.
“As well as their performances on the pitch, they are leaders and standard-bearers of excellence at their clubs and respective leagues.”
