Man City fans boo premier league anthem before Aston Villa game
Manchester City fans on Sunday booed the Premier League anthem ahead of kick-off in game against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.
The match against Aston Villa is the first since the club was accused of over 100 breaches of financial regulations between the period of 2009 and 2018.
It was not the first time the ‘citizens’ would do so. Fresh in memory was how they also jeered Champions League’s music after they were accused of breaching UEFA’s financial fair play rules few years ago.
In 2020, the team was able to overturn a ban from European football and pay a €10million fine instead.
Meanwhile,an independent commission has been set up to look into the allegations leveled
against the Citizens in the current season.
