Man beats daughter to death for using his SIM card to call her boyfriend

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a father, Akaninyene Sunday Okokon, for allegedly taking the life of his 16-year-old daughter, Abasiono.

The man allegedly killed the young girl for making use of his sim card to call her boyfriend.

Okokon was paraded at the police command’s headquarters, in Uyo, the capital of the state on Friday.

The Commissioner of Police has said that the man was apprehended by operatives of Ikot Ebo Divisional Headquarters.

The CP narrated that the man beat his daughter until she lost consciousness and could no more breathe, for making use of his sim card to call her boyfriend.

He added that the deceased girl was rushed to a prayer home instead of being hospitalized.

According to the CP: “On 11th December, 2022, relying on redible Information, operatives of Ikot Ebo Divisional Headquarters arrested one Akaninyene Sunday Okokon who beat up his daughter until she fainted, one Abasiono Akaninyene Sunday aged 16, for using his SIM card to call her boyfriend.

“The victim was rushed to a prayer house at Ikot Iya village instead of being taken to a hospital.”
