Man bathing with blood arrested in Ogun

A 49-year-old man, Ganiyu Shina, was arrested by the police Command in Ogun State, for allegedly bathing with blood.

The suspect was arrested having suspicious ritual bath at a river side in Kotopo area of Abeokuta, the capital of the state.

The incident has been confirmed by the spokesperson of the police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement.

The spokesperson said the suspect who lives at No 4, Oguji street, Obantoko, Abeokuta, was apprehended, Thursday while carrying out the suspected ritual bath a river in Kotopo area of Odeda local government.

The PPRO revealed that members of the community ran after the suspect while he was trying to escape being arrested, and caught him with local sponge and a container filled with blood which he was using to bathe.

“Immediately he discovered that some people are watching him, he took to his heels, but was chased and apprehended by members of the community.

“A call was made to the police at Aregbe divisional headquarters by a member of the community, and the DPO, SP Bunmi Asogbon quickly led the patrol team to the scene where the suspect was arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect claimed to have a spiritual problem, and that a herbalist instructed him to perform the ritual.

“He claimed further that the blood in his possession is not human blood, but that of cow,” he said.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Lanre Bankole, has ordered a laboratory test on the remaining blood to confirm whether it was human blood.
