Man arraigned for attacking Kwara APC chair appointed board member

The Kwara State Governor, Mall AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed an All Progressive Congress member, Toyin Ayinla, arraigned for attacking party leaders, as a member of the Kwara State Polytechnic Governing Board, THE INFORMANT247 has gathered.

Ayinla was docked before a Kwara Magistrates’ Court on March 11, alongside 10 others — namely; Adebayo Jimoh, Salman Amidu, Mahmud Afolabi, Olaofe Oladeji, Saka Mustapha, Abdulmumini Katibi, David Adebiyi, Salau Saka, Amori Rasaki and Saheed Suleiman — for allegedly attacking the state party executives led by the chairman Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa at Shao town of Moro Local Government on February 25.

He was arraigned on a six-count charge of criminal conspiracy, force, assault, causing grevious hurt, inciting disturbance and mischief.

He, alongside others however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against them and Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety each in like sum.

Source privy to the party’s information disclosed to THE INFORMANT247 that the attack on chairman was not unconnected with the crisis rocking the party.

Nonetheless, the governor in a statement by his spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye berates the attack and call for the prosecution of those involved.

Other members of the governing board appointed by the governor include; Engr Salihu S Yaru, Chairman; Mrs Ruth Ibrahim, member; Modupe Adejuwon, member; Rebecca Abolude, member; Alh Sahidi Atanda Alaaya, member; and Shola Jimoh, member.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and the Governor have been engrossed in a fight for the control of the soul of the party in the state.

Bolarinwa is a staunched loyalist of the Minister.
