Man appears in court over alleged stealing of 15 wristwatches worth N15m
A 29-year-old man, Faleye Abiola, appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged theft of MacBook Laptop and 15 wristwatches valued N15million.
Abiola whose address of residence was not disclosed was charged by the police with breaking and entry, theft and malicious damage.
When the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
ASP Clément Okuoimose, the Prosecution Counsel, informed the court that the defendant carried out the offence on October 8, at about 11 p.m, at Sanctuary Sail Harbour Resort, Ago-Ajo village, Epeme, Iworo area of Lagos.
The prosecution counsel revealed that the defendant allegedly broke into the residence of the complainant, Olurotimi Adewumi.
He revealed that the defendant illegally took away a box which contains over 15 expensive wristwatches, five cablewire phone chargers, one MacBook Laptop valued at N1.1mion, and an external hard drive, among others.
He disclosed that the defendant also destroyed a glass door valued N15,000.
He said the offence was in contravention of the provisions of sections 309, 287 and 399 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Mr Fadahunsi Adefioye, who’s the Chief Magistrate, gave the defendant the sum N2m bail plus two sureties in the like sum.
He added that one of the sureties must make available an employment letter and identity card with three years tax clearance.
He has adjourned the matter until November 16, for mention.
