According to ‘the Lawyer’ – an online magazine on the global legal sector, Manchester City has contracted Lord Pannick KC to defend the club against the allegations of financial impropriety.
Pannick who reportedly charges up to £80,000 a day for his services had in the past defended Man City in their UEFA FFP appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2020.
Sky sports reported that Pannick, who is of Blackstone Chambers, will be joined on City’s team by Monckton Chambers’ Paul Harris KC
Meanwhile, the Premier League will be represented by Blackstone Chambers’ Adam Lewis KC, Andrew Hunter KC and Jason Pobjoy.
Manchester City were charged by Premier League with numerous alleged breaches of financial rules.
The League has consequently referred the case to an independent commission which will come up with terms of recommendation against the alleged violations.
The citizens were charged with breaking financial fair play rules around 100 times over a nine-year period, which starts in 2009 and goes on until 2018
