Following the defection of 27 out of 32 Rivers Assembly lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Siminalayi Fubara is currently meeting with the members of the state executive council at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The Informant247 reports that the lawmakers’ defection was a fresh twist to the lingering political impasse between the governor and his political godfather, former governor Nyesom Wike, who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the findings, the meeting is not unconnected with the political crisis in the state, in which the lawmakers failed to impeach the governor a few weeks ago.
The Assembly complex was eventually set ablaze by yet-to-be-identified persons.
