The honourable representing Kaiama/Kemanji/Wajibe, Hon. Abdullahi Halidu Danbaba has lamented the general rise in prices of foodstuffs in the markets across the state.
Hon. Danbaba in leading the debate during plenary on Tuesday raised the alarm that the rate of food scarcity, particularly in Kwara, has brought about an increase in the level of hunger and starvation in the state.
He furthered that the hike is a result of artificial scarcity created by traders who he alleged are indulging in the unwholesome acts of hoarding the limited available foodstuffs.
In its resolution, the state assembly urged the Measure Unit of the Ministry of Enterprise to rise up to its responsibility of regulating prices of goods and services in the State.
It also asked the government to encourage massive food production by providing incentives for farmers in the State.
The House further makes case for community policing in border communities, encouraging the security agencies to be more proactive in their duties of securing the lives and property of citizens.
