Lagos Assembly begins investigation on how Intestine of 13-year-old boy got missing

In response to the alarming case of a 13-year-old boy, Master Adebola, who allegedly suffered a missing small intestine during his treatment at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), the Lagos State House of Assembly has taken swift action.

During a recent plenary session, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for visiting the young patient and personally covering all medical expenses on behalf of the state government.
Speaker Obasa praised the governor’s compassion, stating that it reflects the government’s caring and responsive nature.

However, recognizing the importance of addressing any challenges affecting state institutions, Speaker Obasa emphasized the need to investigate the issue thoroughly and establish a robust system to prevent such occurrences in the future.

To facilitate this investigation, an ad-hoc committee has been formed, with Majority Leader Noheem Adams serving as its chairman.
Other members of the committee include Temitope Adewale, Steve Ogundipe, Surajudeen Tijani, and Lawal Musibau.

Deputy Whip of the House, David Setonji, commended the Speaker for bringing the matter to the attention of the lawmakers, stressing the importance of further examination of the state’s health sector.
Setonji also highlighted the House’s prior efforts to pass legislation related to organ harvesting, emphasizing its role in the state’s progress.

Gbolahan Yishawu emphasized the significance of laws regarding organ transplants and suggested exploring the issue of organ theft as well.
Olanrewaju Afinni recalled the House’s previous success in uncovering information through ad-hoc committees, citing an example related to an elevator accident that claimed the life of a medical doctor.
