The body Interim Management committee(IMC) for the Nigeria Premier Football League(NPFL) has suspended the newly elected member house of representatives, Ekene Abubakar Adams from the league for the rest of the season.
Adams, who was identified as the General Manager of Remo Stars of Ikenne was suspended for assaulting one Ndubuisi Ukah, a match official in charge of the club’s matchday12 fixture of the against Gombe United.
The match official refused to come out for the second half of the match on Sunday after they were reportedly assaulted. The match was eventually concluded on Monday morning with a goalless draw.
The IMC among many other sanctions hammered on Remo Stars on Wednesday include suspension of the Club General Manager, forfeiture of three points, three goals accrued before the match and a fine of 1.5 million naira.
“For breach of Rules C.11, three points and three goals was ordered to be deducted from the total points and goals accrued to the club for the assault on the match official while Mr. Ekene Adams identified as the attacker has been banned from all NPFL activities for the rest of the season.
“Remo Stars is also to ensure diligent prosecution in the law court, of Mr. Adams who is the Club’s General Manager”. The statement added.
Adams had earlier won his election bid to represent the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State in the 10th National Assembly.
